The historic Fox Theater in Trinidad, Colorado required critical abatement work as part of its restoration. Multiple areas of the building had disturbed pipe insulation, duct insulation, asbestos debris, and groundwater intrusion. A spill involving pipe insulation, mag block boiler insulation and asbestos contaminated water were present in the crawlspace, boiler room and west basement.
Colorado Hazard Control was awarded the final abatement project for the site. Our team performed spill response cleanup in the boiler room, crawlspace, and west basement room 3. Work included removing disturbed pipe and duct insulation, filtering groundwater in the boiler room, removing asbestos debris and two inches of impacted soil in the crawlspace, and remediating a three square foot mag block insulation spill in the west basement.
All abatement activities were completed in accordance with CDPHE spill response cleanup requirements. This work supports the continued restoration of the Fox Theater as it moves closer to returning to its former glory.
