The objective of the eight hour EPA Dust Sampling Technician Initial Training Course is to prepare, train, and certify students in how to conduct non-abatement lead dust clearance testing in compliance with the EPA's RRP rule and HUD's Lead Safe Housing Rule. The course curriculum will cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to, the following:

• Introduction to Lead-Based Paint and the RRP Rule
• How to Perform a Visual Inspection
• How to Take Lead Dust Wipe Samples
• Selecting a Laboratory and Interpreting the Results
• Writing a Non-Abatement Lead Inspection Report
• Practical Application of the Skills Learned

The material will be presented through various media types including: lectures, slide presentations, videos, and printed material. Hands-on exercises involving the performance of a visual inspection, taking lead dust wipe samples, and filling out a non-abatement inspection report are incorporated into the training to familiarize the student with the practical aspects of being a Lead Dust Sampling Technician.
